Winter days spent exploring windy beaches and snowy trails call for comfort and warmth. In this winter knitting workshop, we’ll create the Seaside Comfy Cowl, an original pattern by Melissa Kurkoski, our guest instructor. This is the first workshop in Goldenrod’s three-part series on traditional fiber arts, using natural materials and time-honored techniques to create beautiful and functional items.

Cowl Measures approx. 12 inches wide by 7 inches high (gauge 2 ½ stitches per inch).

Attendees must know how to cast on, bind off, knit and purl. Please see supply list of items to bring, pattern will be provided at the workshop. Pattern also includes yarn-overs with dropped stitches and simple cables, instruction included during the workshop.

Participants will meet at the main parking lot for Plymouth Long Beach and carpool together to Goldenrod Foundation’s lovely field station on the beach. Please bring your lunch (coffee, tea and water will be provided) and either warm slippers or thick socks to wear inside the field station. Bring warm outer layers of clothing if you would like to stroll on the beach – the wind coming across the water can be very chilly.
